I am self declared sporting junky. I am completely addicted to exercise and whenever I have spare time can be found running, cycling, swimming or in the gym. I have previously competed in running, rowing, horse riding, cycling and duathlons. A year ago I started to focus on triathlons. I have raced at various distances including a half ironman, where I finished second in my age group and four overall, a performance I am now looking to improve on. I have recently cycled from Lands End to John O’Groats and currently hold the world record for the fastest marathon dressed as an insect.
Through my sporting experiences I have picked up numerous injuries, this sparked my interest the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries as well as in ways of remaining injury free. This led me to study for a Level 5 diploma in clinical sport and remedial massage therapy at the London school of sport and remedial massage. I now treat a wide range of clients ranging from GB junior athletes to retired hip replacement patients. I use a combination of specialised techniques including soft tissue release, muscle energy techniques and trigger point therapy to release areas of tension within the muscle, lengthen shortened muscles, improve flexibility; reducing symptomatic pain and improving function.
From experience I know how frustrating injuries can be and how important your own personal exercise goals can be. I will work with you, encouraging you to take an active part in your recovery, preventing your injuries becoming a reoccurring problem. This may include stretching and/or strengthening exercises, advice on posture and self massage.
